BON JOVI TO PIONEER 'AMERICAN XS' SERIALIZATION PROGRAM FOR NEW ALBUM BOUNCE Following is the official Press Release that was sent out to the media this morning. New York, NY: International superstars, Bon Jovi will be the first major artist to adopt a serialization program on their forthcoming album, Bounce set for release October 8th. Each copy of Bounce will contain a unique PIN code which will be stickered in the album packaging. Each person who buys the the album can register their number at www.bonjovi.com. which provides automatic membership to the program titled, "American XS. "American XS" provides the consumer with an ongoing menu of exclusive oportunities and is being implemented on a global basis. There is no charge or fee for "American XS" membership. "American XS" will offer buyers of Bounce exclusive benefits including "first in line" for concert tickets, unreleased tracks, behind the scenes footage and interaction with the band amongst many other exclusive offers. Periodically, after registration, other offers will be available including a three-day priority purchase window for tickets to the Bon Jovi World Tour (via Ticketmaster), exclusive chats with the band, contests for trips and merchandise, streamed concerts from the World Tour, discounts on merchandise, and even the opportunity to join the band onstage at concert dates. Bon Jovi felt compelled with the release of Bounce to again give back to their fans and reward them for going out and purchasing the album. In addition, they wanted to address the decline in album sales which is growing increasingly more prevalent due to piracy and file sharing. The belief is that added value benefits offered through "American XS" will give Bon Jovi fans incentive to go out and get the new album legitimately. The "American XS" serialization is a benchmark offer, introducing the concept of the 'living album', giving fans a real, on-going relationship with the artist. It's a win-win situation for the consumer and the music industry - the consumer gets real value for the purchase price and the industry benefits by having consumers in record stores. Bounce, Bon Jovi's 8th studio album, was co-produced by Luke Ebbin, Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, the same team responsible for the multi-platinum Crush. The album, featuring the single, "Everyday" was recorded in the band?s home state of New Jersey. Bon Jovi will be filming a special recording for CDUK in Waterloo, LONDON, to be aired sometime in February 2003, we have a limited amount of FREE tickets to watch the performance. All applicants will need to be available from 3.00pm until 5.00pm on Saturday 14th September and must be aged between 16 & 30yrs (Photo ID will be required to gain entry). Unfortunately we do not provide transport so guests will be required to make their own way there. MTV BOUNCE PREVIEW - All kinds of emotions stir through Bounce. While the album is hopeful and romantic throughout, some of the songs are angry and aggressive, reflecting the turbulence and tension that exists in the world today. However, the loud tracks aren't just punchy commercial metal, they're also forward-thinking, suggesting that Jon was tuning into modern rock radio. The opening riff in "Undivided" sounds a lot like Weezer's "Hash Pipe," the tweaked, ragged guitars and electronic embellishments on "Everyday" are more than a little like Garbage, and the raw, precise riffery and exultant "I know you can do it, c'mon!" vocals of "Hook Me Up" are reminiscent of the Cult. Of course, all three tracks also feature elements of vintage Bon Jovi, including gradually building dynamics, dramatic vocals and infectious refrains, resulting in a style that introduces listeners to new sounds without jarring them out of their headphones. No Bon Jovi record is complete without sweeping ballads, and Bounce has several. There's the poignant piano and stirring strings of "Hey Joey" the reflective, lighter-raiser "All About Loving You" and the breathing rhythms and ringing guitars of "Open All Night." Of course, there's plenty of ground between the two extremes, like the exultant mid-paced rocker "The Distance," and "Misunderstood," which simultaneously jangles, grooves and rocks.Once again, Bon Jovi have created a record that pinpoints the passions, drives and points of interest of their audience, even though the band's frontman is drawing less from personal recollections to help achieve that end.
